Too Much, Too Far, Too Soon. a
trilogy of works by Rick
Leidenfrost-Wilson. Three of Rick's
best short pieces are brought together by
the underlying theme of the secrecy and
social dilemmas that still haunt the gay
community.
This trilogy consists of two one-act plays and one song from Rick Leidenfrost-Wilson and Justin
DeMarco's Hockey: The Musical!. The first play, The Anniversary, was last performed as a reading at the
Celebration Theatre in West Hollywood, California. This four-character, dialogue-driven piece slices open
the controversy over gay marriage over a dinner table of close friends as they celebrate their mutual
anniversaries. The second piece is a song from Hockey: The Musical! titled What's Going On?, a
sweeping ballad sung by a sports-journalist in a failing relationship. The show closes with the play,
Perpetual Check, rounding off our show of gay-themed issues. Here we find Chris- a young gay man
desperate to find a meaningful connection. Urged to get out by his friends, he winds up at a party
somewhere in the wilds of New Jersey where he initially finds more potential disaster than comfort. Filled
with moments of light-hearted comedy, twist-in-your-seat tension and deep-rooted political debate, Too
Much, Too Far, Too Soon is an hour-long roller-coaster of dramatic comedy.
This trilogy was originally produced as part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival, then remounted
as part of Midtown International Theatre Festival SHORT SUBJECTS (Continued) Series. The remount was
also co-produced by John Chatterton of the MITF.
